Extractions
We handle all manner of extractions including erupted 3rd molars.
Extractions may be performed for a number of reasons, including severe tooth decay or infection, or severe gum disease; supernumerary teeth (teeth in addition to the standard 32); malformed teeth; or fractured teeth. The most common reason is probably removal of the 3rd molars, or wisdom teeth. In many people the jaw is shaped in such a way that there is insufficient space for these teeth, or they erupt in such a way as to negatively affect the gums or nearby teeth.
If the treatment plan includes a later implant, and at the time of extraction it is found that the socket is deficient, socket preservation will be performed.
